It isn’t a wonder that 14 year old Nicky Price has a love of music. Nicky comes from Neath a town in South Wales on the banks of the River Neath. Neath was home to many talented people. The list is long with the likes of Richard Burton, Rebbecca Evans, Julie Gardner, William Squire, Katherine Jenkins and three time Grammy nominee Bonnie Tyler.

At 9 years old in 2008 Nicky was a runner up in Owen Money’s Search for a Star in Porthcawl. This was Nicky’s first competition and where he met Liz Parker who was to become his vocal coach. In the same year he won Best Young Male Vocalist Of The Year at the Seaside Social Club where he helped raise a considerable amount of money for different charities. 2009 proved to be another good year winning the Neath Port Talbot Search For A Star and was a regional finalist in Festival 4 Stars at the Princess Royal Theatre. Nicky was also a finalist in the Welsh Factor Competition at JK’s Neath.

2010 was a very busy year for Nicky. He was a finalist in the Mountain Ash and Cwmfelin Welsh Factor Competitions. He won the Search for a Star at the Princess Royal Theatre and  Festival 4 Stars in Newport taking him to the regional finals. Nicky also became a student of the Welsh Factor Academy and joined The Performance Factory with Dean Verbeck. Nicky was a finalist in the Music all Youth finals in Cambridgeshire, England and sang in Parc Y Scarlets Stadium to a crowd of over 4,000 alongside Lloyd Daniels and Marlon McKenzie of Xfactor fame.

In March of 2011 Nicky released his first song, Mother of Mine, to Itunes and other sites and to date is still doing well. In the past year Nicky has recorded his second demo album and joined a singing group that does tributes to Niel Diamond in South Wales. He is learning guitar with the help of Ray Taff Williams who also just helped Nicky write his first original song, First Love, that they hope to be recording soon. Nicky has joined Mark Jermin Stage School in Swansea where he is learning acting and dancing.

Nicky’s influences are James Blunt, Bruno Mars, Queen, JLS, Olly Murs, Matt Cardle and Michael Jackson. I think we will see a lot of Nicky in the future.

I am a very proud older sister to Nicky. I may be biased but think he is amazing at what he is doing and has done in the past. He is a telented young lad and one day I hope he goes onto bigger things – Well done boy – Keep it up 🙂 x
